«And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. » Joshua 10: 13
A great battle was going on, where the people of Israel, led by Joshua, were fighting against the Amorites. In the midst of the conflict, Joshua made a very different request to God, for if night fell, the enemy army would take advantage of the darkness to flee. He cried out, “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon!” And believe me, God answered Joshua's prayer! The sun just stopped in the sky and didn't set for almost a whole day. This had never happened before! It was a unique moment in history, demonstrating that God can control even the sun and the moon to help His people achieve victory.
This incredible miracle shows us that God is willing to do the impossible to help us. If He can command the sun and the moon, imagine what He is able to do for us today! God wants us to know that there are no limits to His power and that, no matter what problems or challenges we face, He is always there for us, ready to help us. As impossible as our situations may seem, if God can stop the sun and the moon, He can also do whatever He wants, at the time He deems necessary, amen?
Take Action
Plan a special time to watch the sunrise, perhaps on the beach or from a high spot, while reflecting on today's story. As you watch the sun rise over the horizon, think about God's power and how He is able to work wonders in our lives.
