THE EXAMPLE OF CALEB'S LIFE

«Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said. » Joshua 14: 12

Today's text talks about Caleb, one of the spies Moses sent to explore the Promised Land. Unlike the other spies who returned in fear, Caleb and Joshua brought a positive, faith-filled report. They believed that, with God's help, they could conquer the land, despite the giants and the fortified cities they would have to face. Because of his faith and trust in God, Caleb was given a promise: he would inherit the part of the land he trod on.

Years later, even in his old age at 85, Caleb did not forget God's promise. He stood before Joshua and asked for the land that God had promised. His faith did not wane as time passed; on the contrary, he was ready to fight and conquer Hebron, the land of the giant Anachaeans. Caleb said, “Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day.” And he conquered Hebron, proving that faith in God allows us to face and overcome any challenge, no matter how great.

Caleb's story teaches us about perseverance, faith and the importance of trusting in God's promises. The example of his life inspires us so much that the Church created a special project in his honor. The “Caleb Project” encourages young people and teenagers to dedicate part of their vacation to make a difference in their communities, bringing hope and love. Could your story inspire others to create a project that carries your name forward? Can you imagine?

Take Action

Challenge yourself to conquer a “land” or goal that seems difficult. It could be learning a new skill, words in another language, or improving on a school subject. Remember Caleb's faith and determination, and trust that, with God by your side, you can achieve anything.
