«And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. » Joshua 24: 15
Joshua made a very important choice for himself and his family: “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” This means that he decided that, in his house, everyone would follow and respect God. Serving God is not just about going to church. It's also about being kind, helping around the house, studying with dedication and treating friends and siblings well. When we help our parents, share our toys, or forgive someone, we are showing God's love. Take Action. Serve Him.
Serving God is not just about big things; every little thing we do can be a way to serve God. Even making the bed, doing homework, washing the dishes, or taking care of our pet are all ways to show that we want to do what is right and please God. When Joshua made this choice, he challenged his listeners, “choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve […]. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” So, are you willing to serve the Lord as a family as well?
Take Action
With the help of an adult, create a board with simple tasks that you can do at home to help your family and those around you. It could be tidying up your room, helping set the table, taking the grocery bags to the kitchen, or taking care of the plants. Each time you complete a task, remind yourself that you are serving God with your actions.
