«And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.» Judges 2: 10
There was a time when the people of Israel forgot about God and all that He had done for them. After the death of Joshua and the generation that saw the great works of the Lord, a new generation arose that did not know the Lord or the deeds He had done for Israel. They began to follow other gods, worshipping the idols of the surrounding nations, and that made God very sad and upset.
Because of this unfaithfulness, Israel lost God's protection and blessings. They faced defeats, oppression by enemy nations, and very hard times. Each time they drifted away from God, their lives became more complicated and painful. But even in those moments, God did not completely abandon them. When they cried out for help, He sent judges, who were courageous leaders who delivered them from their oppressors and guided them back to the right path.
This story shows us how easy it is to forget God and His blessings in our lives, especially when things seem to be going well. It reminds us that we need to make a conscious effort to remember who God is and what He has done for us every day. We can't let the distractions and the problems of everyday life make us forget God's constant presence in our lives.
