A WIDOW'S OIL IS MULTIPLIED

«And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. » 2 Kings 4: 6

If you could have something that was infinite, that is, that never ends, what would it be? The story we're going to tell you today is like one of those magic spells that leave us open-mouthed, but it really happened! Once upon a time, there was a widow who was in a very difficult situation. She had no money, and to make matters worse, she was about to lose her two children, who would be taken to pay off the family's debts. It seemed there was no way out, right?

But she wasn't alone. She asked for help from the prophet Elisha, a man of God, who asked a simple question: “What do you have at home?” She replied that she only had a little bit of oil. Elisha then gave her an idea that seemed very strange: he asked her to borrow many jars from her neighbors to fill them with the oil she had.

Then the incredible thing happened: the little bit of oil began to multiply, and she filled one, two, three, several bowls, and the oil wouldn't run out! When all the vessels were full, the oil stopped multiplying. She was then able to sell this oil, pay off all the debts, and still have money left over for her and her children to live on. This miracle shows that God takes care of our needs and always finds a solution, even if we see no way out.

Take Action

Take a small jar and fill it with something that symbolizes abundance for you. It can be rice grains or beans. While you're at it, think of something you need to be “multiplied” in your life. Now pray asking God for this multiplication, and trust that He can do so much more than we ask or think!
