Unmissable Meetings

«No human mind has conceived the things God has prepared for those who love him.» 1 Corinthians 2:9, NIV

Jesus’ coming will be the most spectacular event in history. On that day, the dead will resurrect, millions of angels in Heaven will play trumpets and, most importantly: Jesus will appear in the clouds with power and great glory. For some, it will be a moment of terror; for others, the most anticipated meeting of their lives.

I imagine that this day will bring many surprises, especially for those saved. In addition to being transformed “in the twinkling of an eye” (1 Cor 15:52), they will meet their guardian angel, an invisible being who has accompanied them throughout their existence. Another joy will be seeing family, friends and great heroes of the Bible. Who would you like to meet there?

Among so many meetings, there are at least three that I would not want to miss for anything. The first will be the possible meeting between David and Uriah. I imagine David will have a lot to say! Between tears and smiles, the former king of Israel will certainly exalt Christ's forgiveness and say that he got there solely by the grace of God. Adultery with Bathsheba and the deliberate decision to place Uriah at the forefront of the battle will be insignificant regrets, compared to the eternal glories of Heaven.

Another unmissable encounter will be the hug between Saul and Stephen. Do you remember what the last moment between them was like? While Stephen was being stoned by furious members of the Sanhedrin, Saul had the accusers' cloaks at his feet. Stephen’s last words had a profound impact on Saul’s heart. After meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus, he became a great preacher of the gospel.

I am still curious to see what the meeting between Manasseh and the prophet Isaiah will be like. During much of his reign, Manasseh committed abominations before God, such as sorcery, idolatry, burning his own children to Molech and having the prophet Isaiah sawed in half. A terrible resume for a leader of Judah, right? However, after the invasion of the Babylonians, Manasseh repented and gave his heart to the Lord.

All these encounters will certainly be exciting. The most extraordinary, however, will be your meeting with Jesus, the great climax of your daily encounters with Him in prayer. Are you prepared?
