«Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?» Psalm 15:1
Most of us would never steal anything from another person. We are not thieves. However, many people engage in dishonest practices, such as piracy, plagiarism, and tax evasion, without realizing the serious-ness of this. Citizens of Heaven are honest in everything they do in this life and thus prepare themselves for their future life.
I invite you to make a pact with God to make right what needs to be right. Citizens of the kingdom of Heaven are upright, true, and trustworthy. David’s life exemplifies how this citizen should be. Even though he had made a lot of mistakes in life, when he was confronted with his sin, he was honest in his confession. I believe that, after this experience, he wrote Psalm 15, considered the behavior manual for Heaven.
David asks God: “Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?” He then responds his own question, as if he were doing a spiritual check-up.
The psalmist presents the characteristics of God’s guest: “He who walks uprightly, and works righteous-ness[honesty in action], and speaks the truth in his heart; he who does not backbite with his tongue [honesty in speech], nor does evil to his neighbor, nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he honors those who fear the Lord [honesty in social relationships]; he who swears to his own hurt and does not change; he who does not put out his money at usury, nor does he take a bribe against the innocent [honesty in practice]. He who does these things shall never be moved” (v. 2-5).
God is preparing a wonderful place for us. His desire is that the inhabitants of this new world have a character and behavior compatible with what He has prepared. Honesty is one of the main factors that differentiate the citizens of Heaven. Be honest here, as this will prepare you to be one of the inhabitants of the kingdom that God is preparing for His children.
