«I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.» Psalm 139:14
It is not easy to deal with negative feelings. They can be destructive, pessimistic, demeaning, and are generally distorted. The girl gets dumped by her boyfriend and, for a moment, she thinks it is time to give up on life. At school, your classmates pick teams, and you are always the last one to be chosen. It is a horrible feeling when you realize you are only accepted because you help with classwork. Many people live gravitating towards a certain group, trying to be accepted by it. The circle starts to close, the person becomes so eager to be part of it that they end up excluded. There are no easy arguments when the pain is strong. And each person feels it in their own way.
Before composing Psalm 139, David had spent a lot of time with God. Therefore, he knew that God knows everything and is everywhere. He says that the Lord formed him in his mother's womb and there he had all his days determined. God weaves each person with their specific characteristics. Low self-esteem is not His purpose for human life.
Long before the world was created, there was already a dream in God's heart to create us. Each of us is a wonderful and unique work of the Father's hands. Every cell and organ in our body was designed, formed and woven by His own hands.
Have you ever stopped to apply this biblical truth in your life? Can you marvel at the fact that the Lord thought about your life during your mother’s pregnancy? We are not intruders in the world. We are the creation of God Himself, a masterpiece of His skillful and powerful hands. We were made by Him. Our life is a declaration that God is good. He loves us.
Live today with this truth in your mind. Do not allow the world's wrong criteria to take away the shine and beauty of your self-esteem. Praise God for making you the way you are. Pray that your characteristics will be a blessing in someone's life today.
