Praise

«Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.» Psalm 147:1

Praise is the joyful heart expressing gratitude to God. It is a response of the redeemed to the grace received. Now, I am going to tell you a secret. I have always wanted to sing, but that is not my talent. When I was growing up, I sang at the top of my lungs in church. My enthusiasm was so great that my voice stood out from others. One day, an elder from the church came to talk to me. Admittedly, he was quite careful when he told me that the church was impressed by how much I liked to sing. Tactfully, so as not to offend my youthful sensibilities, he suggested that I regulate the volume of my voice. From then on, I realized that singing was not one of my greatest skills.

One day, I discovered the secret of praise. I understood that, even though I could not be a singer, I could praise. Singing is about talent; praising has to do with life. To sing well, you need skill, training, ability. To praise from the heart, it is only necessary to enjoy the presence of God in life.

I understood that praise is the purest expression of worship to God. I noticed this by observing sincere people praising God. In particular, I remember a holy man whose praise was so sincere that I was struck speechless by watching him sing. He was a man of prayer.

When he sang, what came out of his lips was pure adoration, sincere praise. He was not trying to impress anyone when he sang. I realized that his praise was so beautiful because he related to Christ. His music was part of his dialogues with Jesus. I learned that this was the secret to the beauty of praise despite not having a beautiful voice.

The person who has learned to praise the Lord will do so under any circumstances, regardless of anything. There is no one like our God! If you are interested in learning to praise Him, open your heart to Him in faith. Remember: if God does not hear you singing, it does not matter who else does.
