Joy of Living

«Where is that joyful and grateful spirit you felt then?» Galatians 4:15, NLT

Joie de vivre [joy of living] is a French expression that describes some people who have the ability to love life to its fullest. You can notice something different about them, whether in their personality or in their actions. What is the secret to a life full of joy? What did these people discover?

Laugh at everything that sparks joy. Laugh at yourself. Despite so many sad things that happen to us, we have a lot to be grateful for. And gratitude remarkably increases our level of happiness. Do something for someone. There is joy in service. Generous and helpful people have happy hearts. People like this live smiling. Get more involved with people. There is joy in friendship. Surround yourself with optimistic people who lift you up. When you come across someone sad, bring love and joy to that person's heart. Smile at people, and they will smile at you.

To cultivate joy, try to balance your activities and take time daily and weekly for quality rest. A tired mind and a tense body steal the smile from our face. If your desire is to maximize your joy, then sleep better. Sleep is one of the most important things we can do to increase our ability to be happy.

Feel Heaven invading your world every morning. Joy is a gift. Ask God to give you joy. Joy is a fruit of the Spirit. God loves you. Then tell Him: “Lord, give me the joy of living!” Give Him every worry. Do not save any anxiety for the next day. Sing more. Love more. Smile more. Be happy!
