Sowing

«For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption.» Galatians 6:8

Let us imagine that you have a plot of land and want to grow vegetables on it. You will have to prepare the land, turn it over and fertilize it. You buy some seeds, sow them and wait. You sow corn and harvest corn. You plant beans and harvest beans. It is foolish to think that we can plant one thing and harvest another. If you accidentally plant the wrong seed, you will still reap what you sowed. The relationship between sowing and reaping is natural and fair. What you sow is what you reap. God provides the seeds, commands the seasons and sends the sun and the rain. God guarantees the harvest, but each of us chooses the seeds we want to sow.

This law of harvest is as effective in the field of agriculture as it is in the moral and spiritual fields. The image of sowing is related to our choices and to our thoughts. The moral consequences of our choices have to do with what we think. What has access to our mind has an impact on our heart and life.

Plant a thought, reap an action.

Plant an action, reap a habit.

Plant a habit, reap a lifestyle.

This works every time. So be careful what you are putting in front of your eyes. If you plant a thought, it feeds your imagination. If you plant impure thoughts, you inevitably reap a desire to satisfy those thoughts. It all starts with a thought.

Some people have cultivated the habit of thinking impure thoughts, but because nothing happens right away, they feel free to continue thinking the same thoughts. They believe there will be no harvest. As a result, they plant, plant and plant. Later, the shoots begin to grow. The fruits of your secret thoughts take over your entire life. Believe me, every seed that was planted in the mind will one day germinate and grow.

Whatever you sow, you will reap. “Sowing to the flesh” is an illustration of how many people live their lives. They are sowing seeds of a cursed harvest into the soil of the heart. Sin always creates destruction. When you prioritize the satisfaction of the flesh, you always reap ruin in the end. God cannot be mocked. This does not mean that God sits on the balcony of Heaven looking for someone to take revenge on. It's just a warning to remember that it is impossible to control the consequences of our choices.
