Do the Mission

«Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord.» Colossians 4:17

In the kingdom of God, any routine activity can turn into a ministry. A dentist, for example, can dedicate two hours a week to provide free care to people in need. His service then becomes a ministry. A housewife can set up a crafts group and, from there, start a Bible class at home. A university student can set up a research group at home. Colleagues will be able to see how happy and harmonious a Christian home is. This will open doors for sharing your faith. The key is to do something, not just talk or think about it.

Your professional work is part of your ministry. You do not need to include Jesus' name in every conversation, but His presence should be noted in everything you do. God not only wants us to serve Him in our work, but He wants us to serve Him intentionally by investing our lives for the benefit of others. All tasks well done reveal Jesus Christ to people.

God puts in our hearts the desire to conduct His work. Pay attention to this desire. Pray about it and see if your intentions are pure. The project that God puts in your heart to accomplish is exactly what He wants you to do. If there is an organized ministry in your church that fits God's calling on your life, give it your full support. If there is not one, start one based on a real need that you identify.

Those who attend church services and are not involved in any activities or commitments are popularly known as “pew warmers.” You were not called to do this. Do not allow yourself to live selfishly, seeking your own interests. You do not belong to yourself. You belong to the King. You are called to deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Jesus. And this will result in people following your footsteps towards Heaven.

God has a ministry and not simply a career for you. Your entire life is included: professional vocation, family, church and community. Accept the divine call today. Roll up your sleeves, get to work and let God work miracles through you.
