The Power of Consistency

«But he who endures to the end shall be saved.» Matthew 24:13

The great achievements in life do not come by chance but are the result of continuous effort. Want to see some examples? If you want to get in shape, there is no point in just going to the gym for one day. If you want to acquire knowledge, it is not enough to read just one page of a book. If your dream is to make someone fall in love with you, there is no point in just giving them a bouquet of roses. In all these cases, it is necessary to maintain a sequence of actions, day after day, in order to achieve your goal.

Note that success is not about an event or the intensity of an attitude. You can, for example, brush your teeth as hard as possible, but this will not whiten them in a few minutes. In fact, you could hurt your gums! White teeth are achieved with a lifetime of brushing, flossing and regular visits to the dentist.

Likewise, if you want to keep your body healthy and without that unwanted fat, there is no point spending ten hours at the gym. This will harm your health. You should distribute the exercises daily, at least 20 minutes a day, until you get in shape. It takes time. You need to have patience and perseverance. This is called consistency!

In our relationship with God, the same thing happens. Vigils, musical concerts and even weeks of prayer are great for our communion, but they should not be its pillars. Intimacy with God happens day after day, with your knees on the floor and the Bible in your hand. Spiritual giants do not emerge on the bright stages of worship, but in the dark rooms of communion. The Christian life is not activated by pressing a button but it is built through a continuous relationship with God.

I know that many cannot stay firm in the ways of the Lord. They always fall into the same sins. Some have already started doing the Bible yearly reading plans dozens of times, but they always stop after the first books. They even start a prayer routine but end up losing the rhythm. Is this your reality? So, your biggest problem is the lack of consistency.

Cry out to God for Him to grant you perseverance. Just as you need to eat every day, you also need to study the Word and pray. Do this regularly, and you will be happy!
