«Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.» 1 Corinthians 10:12
When Apple, the most valuable brand in the world, launched a waterproof iPhone model, many people went wild. These iPhones sold out in less than 24 hours. People spent nights and entire days in lines trying to buy one of these devices when it was launched. It did not take long to happen what experts had predicted. Very soon, people started making videos and posting on the internet testing whether, in fact, the device was waterproof.
However, many users failed because they did not pay attention to the company's instructions on the conditions for the device to remain waterproof. The limits of the technology implemented by Apple was diving with a maximum depth of one meter and for no more than 30 minutes. In this testing game, many compromised their devices before even enjoying their new purchase.
This experience teaches us a basic and important lesson for our entire life. Everything has an established limit. Whoever learns to respect it finds the path to victory and life. Limits were not created to be tested, but to be respected. The further from the limit we are, the safer our walk will be. As we read in 1 Corinthians 10:12, falling down always remains a real possibility. And what causes it the most is challenging the limits.
We often apply the same principle to spiritual life. We learn that God loves us and can forgive all our sins. That is true, but it does not mean that we must deliberately sin to enjoy God's mercy. The label of sin conceals the information that it is addictive, imprisoning, enslaving and alienating from God. The more you sin, the farther you move from the source of forgiveness. We must not forget that God is love, but He is also justice. These two divine attributes do not repel each other; they complement each other. Do not walk on the limit but limit yourself in God.
