«All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.» 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Letters written on paper are not so common nowadays. In this generation, some may have never seen one in their mailbox. In fact, there are those who even ignore an email, as they are more familiar with other things: WhatsApp messages, screenshots, memes, tweets, or posts. It seems that verses and love letters have become obsolete! However, one of the advantages of letters from the past was the ease of storing them in a chest and reading them again and again.
Even when the relationship ended, the letters remained. Today, relationships have become increasingly banal and disposable, like the cell phone messages we receive and delete.
God also took care to send us a love letter. It was written over 1600 years, it has more than 1000 chapters and it required 40 writers to write it. God's letter to us is the Holy Bible. It announces the good news of salvation and reveals what is going to happen. It helps us maintain a deep relationship with God through our daily personal devotion. And it gives wise guidance that helps us make intelligent choices to be happy, both now and in the future.
The Bible is a speaker in search of an audience, a speech that asks for attentive ears, an antidote that seeks the sick, bread for the hungry. But I need to ask you a question: Where is the love letter that God sent you? Kept in your heart? Or abandoned on some shelf? Open within your eyes? Or locked in a chest out of your hands? Remember: A Bible that is not used is a Bible that does not save. Relationships that are not cultivated die. Faith that is not nourished weakens. Love that is not expressed disappears. God wants to speak to you today. Are you willing to listen to Him?
