«And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”» Luke 4:12

The reveal of Tesla's Cybertruck made quite the stir. Robust and resistant, this car can be considered a battle tank. Developed to be versatile, it is a very resistant truck and, at the same time, it has a lot of technology and comfort. The purpose of the car is to offer, above all, safety for those who purchase it.

Its reveal event was expected by the audience, who filled the auditorium. Thousands of people around the world watched the event live. The company's owner, billionaire Elon Musk, enthusiastically presented the features of this car to an excited audience. According to the script, the climax of that presentation would be a heavy iron sphere thrown against the armored glass of the vehicle. The big moment arrived.

However, it was a big failure. The employee threw the sphere, and the glass broke, as it would happen with any car. The shielding was not what Musk thought. The result was negative marketing. The unforeseen circumstances and eccentric shapes of the car became a meme on the internet. It seems that overconfidence that day hurt the launch, and that was not good.

In spiritual life, something similar can also occur. We must trust God and His promises, but we can never be overconfident in ourselves. While on this Earth, Jesus showed us what an existence full of faith and free from presumption is like.

During 40 days in the desert, He was confronted by temptation. In the second attempt, the enemy suggested that the Lord throw Himself from the pinnacle of the temple. The proposal went something like this: “You can do this; you are the Son of God. Prove it to everyone. Put on a glorious show for the audience. The angels will hold you, and everyone will applaud.” The King of glory and humility acted as always, in the right way. He rejected self-exaltation and left the enemy disappointed. This is how we should behave.

Do not be afraid to act to glorify God. Do remarkable things for the Lord. But never try to impress people by attracting glory to yourself. In the first case, you will act in faith; in the second, with presumption. Armored by true trust in God, the windows of your life will remain intact.
