Philanthropy

Little is said or known about Joanna from the Bible. Luke gives us the idea that she was among the women whom Jesus healed. Deep gratitude compelled her to support Jesus financially in His preaching and healing. It was not uncommon in the Jewish culture for a liberated woman like Joanna to finance itinerant leaders.

Biblical giving from the heart always begets more giving. When Jesus gave so freely of His power to help Joanna who was sick, she, in turn gave generously of her means to support the work of our Lord. The last mention of Joanna was on the resurrection morning bringing spices to Jesus’ tomb. In life and in death, she was magnanimous toward her Master.
